Group supervision for beginners
Beginner Group Supervision is designed for therapists who are new to Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP) and want a supportive environment in which to build confidence and develop core clinical skills. Learning alongside peers provides the opportunity to observe a range of clinical presentations, share questions and challenges, and benefit from collective reflection and discussion.
Who is it for?
This group is suitable for:
– Therapists beginning their ISTDP training.
– Clinicians who have completed an introductory ISTDP course and are starting to apply the model in practice.
– Mental health professionals who would like structured guidance as they integrate ISTDP principles into their clinical work.
What you can hope to achieve?
Through case discussion, video review where available, and guided feedback, participants will:
– Develop a solid understanding of the fundamental principles of ISTDP.
– Increase confidence in applying ISTDP interventions with patients.
– Learn to identify anxiety pathways, defensive patterns, and unconscious emotional processes.
– Strengthen skills in moment-to-moment assessment and intervention.
– Gain practical strategies for managing common challenges encountered in early ISTDP practice.
– Learn from the experiences and clinical work of fellow group members in a respectful and collaborative learning environment.
The emphasis is on creating a safe, encouraging, and engaging space where therapists can develop their skills, ask questions openly, and grow in confidence as ISTDP clinicians.
